Commercial Manager

This role and all of our roles outside of Ireland include a full travel package covering flights, accommodation, travel and a daily living allowance reflective of the country you will be based in.

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Commercial Manager to join our clients team, working closely with a data centre-focused client on high-profile projects across Europe. As the Commercial Manager, you will play a pivotal role in managing the commercial strategy, ensuring financial control, risk management, and maximising profitability on mission-critical projects. This is a unique opportunity to work with leading-edge technology and be part of some of the largest data centre developments in the industry.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the commercial strategy for data centre projects, from tender through to final account, ensuring strong financial performance and profitability.
• Oversee and manage the preparation of budgets, cost plans, and contract documentation in line with client requirements.
• Work closely with the client to ensure transparency and alignment on all commercial aspects, providing regular updates and financial reporting.
• Manage and evaluate contract negotiations, variations, and claims to ensure value for money and risk mitigation.
• Lead a team of quantity surveyors and commercial staff, providing guidance and ensuring best practices are adhered to.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with the client, subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth project delivery.
• Monitor project cash flow and ensure accurate forecasting, payments, and reconciliation of accounts.
• Ensure compliance with all contractual, legal, and health and safety regulations.
• Attend client meetings, progress reviews, and financial discussions, providing expert commercial input to drive project success.

Requirements:

• Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience in a commercial management role within the construction or data centre industry.
• Proven track record of managing large-scale, complex projects, ideally in the data centre or mission-critical sectors.
• Strong understanding of construction contracts (NEC, FIDIC, etc.) and risk management.
• Excellent leadership, negotiation, and communication skills, with a client-focused approach.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience managing multidisciplinary teams across multiple projects.
• Willingness to travel within Europe as required by project demands.
